touring trough Vietnam, China & ... looking for advice on roads and companions
hi,
I will be cycling in China from november until I get tired of my bicycle...
I travel cheap because I never worked so all the money is from holiday jobs (just graduated).
The route is very flexible so if anyone has some advice on the nicest routes in china or anyone is up to travel with me. Please let me know.
I will start next week from Phnom Penh to Vietnam (from ho chi minh to hanoi) and then on to china.
I did cycling trips in europe where the average is about 120 km a day but here it's more of a 40 till 80 km a day since I can't travel that light and it is really warm!
so if anyone has some advice, I would love to hear from you.
I am travelling with a laptop so I'll be checking my e-mail quite a lot.
Cheers!

Hi
Hello Toon,
Be very careful in Phnom Penh, it's really dangerous there for cyclists (not only), I saw a few live accidents and also got hit by a motorcycle, happily without consequences. The same for the rest of the country, get a mask for all the lime dust that will attack your larynx ...
Anyway I left PP early the next day never to come back - at least not on my bike. Thailand and Laos are much safer, I would especially recommend Laos, a paradise for cyclists if you like mountains that is. The poorest but most friendly people in all of Asia I'm sure. You will never forget that trip.
I will fly to Thailand with my trusty bike on October 29 and be picked up by my Thai terrak and will stay for 3 months this time. Maybe it will be forever ...
Happy trails!
Jörg.
