Website URL in Profile not accepted

Hello cyclers!

In Our new profile we tried to include the url of our website. In the text it's ok but in the special field it will not be accepted although we write it including http:// like this:
It's correct as you can test.
What could be the reason please!

That looks like a bug to me.

That looks like a bug to me. I opened an issue on it, and will try to get it fixed before too long.

Underscore is not valid in a URL

Hi - I took a closer look and found out the problem. You have an underscore in the URL, "andreas_paul". Underscores aren't valid in domain names on the internet, even though most browsers and other domain name resolvers are lenient about it. Apparently *Drupal* is NOT lenient about it.

Two very simple things you can do:

1. If it's easy, just change the subdomain of your website.
2. If not, for Warmshowers use, create a short URL using a URL shortener or the like that points to your website.

(Interestingly, wouldn't accept the _ either, but did,, so I put that into your profile.)

Thanks for your help, Randy!!

Thanks for your help, Randy!!

I wanted to add some more info about this case.

Our Website is based on an Public Space Server of the City of Linz (, giving Webspace to every citizen of Linz. So I can't influence the URL, nor can I create an Subdomain.

Thank you for this shortcode, which I would know how to create nor how to change?

Till now I didn't have troubles using our URL and every citizen owning a Webspace has one in this structure:

Thx! Would be happy, if the Website of warmshowers could except this URL.

All the best!

could not work somewhere

A domain with _ is not always recognized: even if you convince the programmer of WS to accept it, you might always end in some user that found on their way a DNS with strict compliance and would not serve your name.
