Bikepack the Tahoe Rim Trail!

Hello! I am planning on bikepacking the Tahoe Twirl trail (https://bikepacking.com/routes/tahoe-twirl/) theoretically a challenging and beautiful 4-5 day trip starting out of Reno ideally 7/21/19. While I am an experienced bicycle hobbyist, this will be my first major bikepacking endeavor. I am doing this for the experience not the pace, and I would welcome any interested adventurers! Let me know :) Cheers, Kerri

Tahoe Rim Ride

Hey Kerri:  Rick Gunn lives in South Lake Tahoe and I believe is an expert on the rim ride.  He is also a Warmshowers host which is where I originally met him.  He'd be a great help.  Super guy.  https://www.warmshowers.org/users/rick-gunn  Have a great ride!

Hi Laura! Thanks for reaching

Hi Laura! Thanks for reaching out!

I’ve already recruited another WarmShowers mate to join so I’d have to check with him as well regarding flexibility. We haven’t quite settled on an exact start but we were aiming for the 21 or 22...I need to be finished by the 27/28. I am very new to bikepacking and trail riding in general, though I’m very at home on a bike. The plan is to ride in earnest but also with no pressure - to enjoy the journey. While others have ridden the route in 4-5 days, I’d like to leave myself 6-7 to account for the growing pains and elevation. How does all that sound to you? I think waiting till the 23 might be pushing it for us, but stay tuned!

Cheers,

Kerri

Definitely agree with you on not wanting to be rushed. Also have done plenty of bike touring on a road bike but only a weekender so far bikepacking. Let me know what the other guy says!

Hi Laura! Thanks for your

Hi Laura! Thanks for your patience as we sorted out some more details on our end. Due to our own timing constraints, we are going to need to start no later than Monday July 22. We’re going to be launching from near Star Lake and it looks like we’ll be heading north/counter clockwise around the Lake. You would be most welcome to link up with us once you become available! As we pin down more details I can keep you posted if you’d like.
