Layout Efficiency in Website Rewrite

Hi folks.

Just some suggestions to make the new website efficient. I'm on a MacBook Air 11", which is tiny. Being on the road means weight, volume, etc. So, I think the website should reflect the size of small windows in browsers.

  • Follow Us, Login components, Languages can all be compressed into two rows at the top of the nav div. In fact, Follow Us is used at most 3 times and those assets can be put at the bottom as buttons.
  • Languages can be represented by flags.
  • The map page might take dimensions from JS for screen optimization.
  • Home page can house all the bottom information to bring the community into action (old forum posts, tips, stats, etc.)

Just some ideas. Enjoy the road, peeps.

Cheers

Thanks for the good thinking.

Thanks for the good thinking. You're welcome to join us in the redesign as well. I've always thought it worked fine on 1024x768; I *can* make it go on my phone, although it's not pretty.

The redesign is ongoing at http://www.warmshowers.org/forums/site-designgovernanceadministrators/website-redesign-project.

If you're a fan of responsive design and want to apply what you know to our theme after we get it launched, you'll be welcome.
