Brisbane to Perth…Over the top April 2016 start

Hi,

I am taking a trip from Brisbane up the east coast of over the top along the Savannah Way, the Gibb River road and down the west coast to Perth. I am looking to do this very budget, I take the opportunity to camp wild as much as possible as there is nothing better than being out in the open.
I have previously done Perth to Sydney along the bottom and have got a bug to do a slightly longer trip! I have previously toured the pyrenees and the Alps too.

I will be arriving in Brisbane at the end of April 2016 and have primarily given myself 6 months for the trip, but do have the option to extend this with my visa.

I am generally a really relaxed cyclist who enjoys the sun on her face and wind in her hair. I am looking for someone to join me for some of the trip or all of it!

If anyone has done some of this route I would love to hear advice and any tips for along the way!

Thanks Anna

Top tip: I've only done the

Top tip: I've only done the Stuart Highway and then coast to Sydney, but keep your rear rack top free and buy a 10lt water container from Woolworths (prefilled). It has a tap on the back and can be re-used.

As you get up the top mossies will eat you alive (depending on the time of year), and dengue is around. You really don't want dengue while cycling (as I found out in Malaysia).

Enjoy!

RID

I AUS they sell a mosquito repellent called RID. It is the best!

Also: Sting-off is the best when you got a nasty bite (and a lot of things bite in AUS). I can't live without either on trips....

Have fun!
