Hello i'll be riding my bike down the PCH and was wondering if i could just use a hammock to sleep in or should i just bring a tent?

So your leaving soon? I left

So your leaving soon? I left in this trip last October and it was very wet, not sure how well set up some of the campgrounds are for hammocks on the coast I would say a 3 season tent and hammock would be your best bet. Your doing it at the right time hope you have a great trip!

I will be leaving on June 1 and going though the 18th. I am riding a trek520 down with Apidura produces ultra-light packing systems on my bike

Fog

Due to coastal fog, you may always wake up wet even if it is not raining.

Hammock or tent

I'd go the tent+fly route, given the choice again. From what I remember of 2014, most of the hiker/biker areas at the state parks dotted down the coastline have trees outside the designated areas but not in them. Also, there is the fact that the trees are huge and not close together around those parts and you will need extra rope to reach around them. The coastal fog up in Washington can be so heavy it feels like rain on your tent as it drips profusely from the canopies. My tent stayed dry.

Dry tent

Hi Jack how did your tent stay dry

Dry tent.

I have an extra-large tent fly and normally I don't peg it down. I just fasten it to the tent. (I've learned to put it on, no matter the weather.) But when I see it's going to rain, heavy dew, or appears like it will blow sand and dirt, I peg it out and the tent stays very dry. Mine is a 2 person and I keep all my bags inside, too.
