Cycling Spain

Hello everyone!
In july i will be cycling in spain for about a month and i was wondering if spain has any specific laws that i should be concerned about.
Also, this is my first big tour. Any tips would be very helpful.
Thanks!

Hope you are used to high temperatures! I'm leaving Girona this week to go back to UK as it's too hot already (up to 36C by 3pm). Stick to north and west coasts - not south!

No worries about laws. And drivers are possibly the most considerate in Europe. Traffic is light in many areas and bike lanes are wide. (Towns vary).

You need to wear a helmet. A local informed us that many do not wear helmets in cities but should on more open roads, thus you get the impression that they are not compulsory when you ride in cities.

I live in Girona. People

I live in Girona. People cycling in the city, on the hire bikez or on their own bike, do not wear helmets. If there is a law, the police are certainly not enforcing it. the only riders you see outside the city are club or racing cyclists, they wear helmets. Wear one if you want to.

Early starts

I toured Spain and started from the south. It's lovely in its way, but the weather caused me a wee problem that I solved by changing my schedule.

I would start at 6 and stop at about 11.30/12pm. I would then get underway at around 4 and stop again at 5-6pm. Do as the Spanish do and have a siesta.

I loved my tour of Spain. Have a great time amigo!!
