Modified Northern Tier, Summer 2019 - East to West

Hey there potential touring partner! My name is Quinn and ever since my sophomore year of high school, I've had a dream of biking across America. Now, I'm planning to make that dream a reality. The tour I have planned is a highly scenic route with many, many highlights including but not limited to Niagara Falls National Park, Badlands National Park, Black Hills National Forest (Mt. Rushmore & Devil's Tower), Yellowstone National Park, Bighorn National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Glacier National Park, and Northern Cascades National Park.

The route, which you can view at the link below, was created by me using the Adventure Cycling Association's Northern Tier route as a somewhat loose foundation. In addition, every section of the route has been thoroughly reviewed and edited with the assistance of tools such as Google Street View and Strava's Global Cycling Heatmap to ensure that the route is as bicycle-friendly as possible.

Full Route Here:

During the tour, the goal is to average 40-70 miles a day with one rest day a week, depending on the terrain. To keep costs relatively low, there will be a very heavy reliance on camping, stealth camping, and Warmshowers hosts for sleeping accommodations. Food, on the other hand, is much more flexible.

Although I have had plenty of cycling experience, my touring experience is somewhat limited. I have been on a total of two tours thus far, one overnight and one 4-day excursion, and have another, longer tour planned for later this summer. That said, if you're new to cycling or touring, don't worry! I have a wealth of resources that I've compiled over the years that I can send you if you're interested in doing a cross-country trip (or a portion of it) with me. There have been people who've biked across America with ZERO cycling experience, so having no experience is not an issue.

Think you're ready to have the adventure of a lifetime? Contact me with any questions or comments you have and I'll be happy to answer them. As the start date of the tour approaches, I'll be sure to contact you to distribute additional information about the tour and can tie up any loose ends as needed. I am willing to go solo, however, I certainly wouldn't mind having a person or couple of people join in on the fun.  Hope to hear from you soon!
