Hi Roger and Randy,
Thank you for the WarmShowers program! It came in very handy when cycling
through Virginia last September, especially when riding from Washington DC
for a whole day and I was still in the suburbs; otherwise finding a place to
camp would have been difficult. Jennifer Ellis at Manassas was very
welcoming that night and it turned out that this was the first WarmShowers
experience for both of us.
I camped at Danielle and Robert Bouy's home,
another WarmShowers host, the following night and it was also fun to chat
with them. From there it was a short ride to Hustle, Virginia, and a reunion
of my 1976 Bikecentennial group; amazingly, 10 of the original 12 riders
made it to the event. A couple more days of riding took me to a third
WarmShowers, Jeff Erkelens in Charlottesville, a pleasant town that would
have been a difficult place to camp in without the WarmShowers host.
I continued west along the TransAmerica Trail to Berea, Kentucky, then north
to Columbus, Ohio; both were places that I once lived in. A little story of
my ride with photos is at www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/VultureBill
