looking for a partner! Starting the trip in Puerto Montt in january. I am going south on caratera australe! easy going, it is not about the distance or the destination but about rhe trip itself. Carrying my fishing rod and maybe a inflatable raft! My pace is about 130km or 50km. I am very flexible!

I am open minded to any kind of suggestion!

The Carretera Austral is full

The Carretera Austral is full of cyclists in the winter. You will constantly meet other cyclists on the road and when you stop in towns. So, m advice would be to just find a partner on the road. There is always a danger in searching for cycling partners on internet forums, because you don’t know if you have the same speed or stamina. But on the Carretera Austral, it is very easy to decide if another cyclist would be good to travel with.

Even during the low season of

Even during the low season of April to Oct, there are still a number of touring cyclists on Carretera Austral.  I think most cyclistss travel through this region in Nov-Jan because they want to catch the O'Higgins ferry which only operates between Oct to April.

You will find a lot of touring cyclists going in that direction in January.

I travelled through Carreteral Austral in end of April/early May. I've met touring cyclists going in both directions, but be prepared a lot of services are closed due to low season
