I am currently touring Europe and want to go over to the UK. I have sent out thirteen requests for hosting and route information and have only received three responses. My wife and I are middle aged and typically request hosting with those who have a similar profile. We have several positive and no negative feedback issues. I have never had this problem before. Actually the route and local knowledge information is more important to me than hosting and as we all know when you are in an unfamiliar area this can be critical. Any suggestions?

We are taking the ferry to Newcastle. We were going to head either north or south along the coast. We like quaint fishing villages an seascape. Wife dosnt like hills. Interested in staying at Inns and B and Bs. Can we just pick up a road map and go or do we need special cycle route maps. Really appreciate any info. We will be arriving Wednesday.

Cheers, Alan

Hi Alan, sorry for the delay,

Hi Alan, sorry for the delay, I've been in the Lake District without internet access.

I hope this is not too late for you...

From Newcastle you can pick up the coasts and castle route - see Get in touch with Sustrans who have a map for this route with places to stay en route.
