I'm writing on behalf of Al Madad Foundation, a charity committed to increasing education and literacy among disadvantaged children. We're currently working on the ground in Syria, where we have put in place an education project to get internally displaced children back into schools.
We're organising a charity cycle, called Cycle4Schooling, to raise funds for this project and to implement further projects across the country. This is a new challenge event that is set to take place on 17 May 2014. This will be a sponsored cycle ride from London to Oxford, and the money raised will allow us to employ already qualified teachers living within a disused school in Aleppo to teach for a wage. By utilising the skills and knowledge already available within these groups, we will be able to make a real difference to these children, aged 1-19 years, who are currently missing out on an education as a result of the ongoing Syrian crisis.
It’s set to be a really great day out full of fun and energy and we hope that some of you might be interested in taking part! The plan is to make our way out westwards from central London through the scenic English countryside, en route to finish at Oxford’s Bodleian Library. Following our arrival in Oxford, we will head out for a celebratory meal so cyclists can get to know each other and share stories, and we will then provide return coach journey back into London for those who require it.
It is open to all levels, from humble beginner right through to experienced cyclist, and we want as many people to join as possible!
I hope that some of you might be interested in taking part in this event! For more information, please check out our website: www.almadadfoundation.org, where you can download an information pack and a booking form.

I look forward to hearing from some of you!
With best wishes,
