Our home is not a bed and breakfast

Dear guests, we are delighted that you are traveling by bike, and enjoy being able to host you, but please remember we have jobs, lives and other family members to consider. Our home is not a bed and breakfast. Please pick up after yourselves, do not monopolize the dinner conservation, nor the conservation after dinner. We understand your adventure is wonderful, and all the new experiences, but please, take a breath, and watch for social cues. Enjoy your journey.

Why not just post your strong views as stated in your profile? Avoid what you view as rudeness in future guests.

in your Profile ...

I know what you are talking about Kathleen. Just put that - verbatim- in your profile, which is very short at present.

Shoot, my profile reads like the Berlin Wall, and that's how I like it ...

Thank you

Thank you for your comments, I was beginning to feel like an monster for expressing my feelings about our last guest. Have a wonderful New Year, and thank you again for taking the time to write.

Just in case not enough

Just in case not enough emphasis was made already - the two most important things you can do as a host to help yourself and the community of hosts avoid disappointment in the future are:
1) Dedicate a few paragraphs in your profile to write about yourself, the amenities you offer and your expectations as a host.
2) Write references for each of your guests.

Your home, your rules, that's

Your home, your rules, that's the short and simple of it.

BUT, like so many people said, you really need to write it on your profile, the more information you have the easier it is for people to properly meet your expectations, this comes from a host the during summer has 4 kids and a wife with me at home, logistics, noise restrictions, social etiquette to live up to.

With that said, bike tourers are a strange bunch at times, but for most of the time I enjoy the lively talks and sharing of exciting and something not so exciting stories they tell :)

Mabey you need to take a step back and think about why you host?
Elaborate in you profile your house rules ie no conversation at meals!!! about cycling!!!
